The Indonesian mass media have recently published a number of materials which, with reference to different members of the Parliament and experts, dealt with the issue of concluding a contract for the delivery of an additional batch of Russian jets Su-30 to Indonesia, the cost of these jets and a possible participation of local agents in this contract. In this connection the Embassy of Russia in Indonesia deems that it is necessary to provide the following clarification.
The contract for the delivery of 6 Su-30MK2 jets and additional equipment was signed between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia and the Russian state corporation “Rosoboronexport” in late
December 2011.
December 2011.
The open joint-stock company “Rosoboronexport” was established by a Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and is the state intermediary agency for exports and imports of military and dual-purpose products, technologies and services. Only the JSC “Rosoboronexport” is entitled to supply the whole range of the armaments and military equipment, produced by Russian defence enterprises and authorised for export, to the global market.
The process of drafting and signing of the contract for the delivery of the 6 Su-30MK2 jets to Indonesia was carried out directly by the authorised representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia and the JSC “Rosoboronexport” and was implemented in accordance with the procedures established by the legislation of the two countries. Any information that some “third side” took part in drafting the contract, therefore increasing the price of the jets, is not true.
Besides the 6 Su-30MK2 jets, the contract also provides that aircraft engines and spare parts be delivered to Indonesia, and Indonesian specialists be trained according to the programme agreed by the two sides. It should be noted that the contract takes into consideration all the wishes expressed by the Indonesian side with regard to the list and the amount of the equipment being bought.
The delivery of the first batch of 6 Su-30MK2 jets is planned for late 2012.
