Ukraine & Thailand co-produced armored vehicles

At the exhibition Eurosatory 2012, Thailand and Ukraine have had talks about co-produced armored vehicles carrying troops BTR-3E1.

In August / 2007, Thailand's Ministry of Defence has signed a contract to buy 96 armored vehicles carrying troops of Ukraine, the contract value of approximately USD 123 million. After that, on May 8/2011 Ukraine signed the next Thailand's Ministry of Defense with the second contract to supply 121 armored personnel carriers BTR-3E1 carrying troops to the value of $ 140 million. The armored car was first delivered in late 2010.

In addition, Thailand also confirmed, talks about the possibility of BTR-3E1 production in Thailand is taking place. The talks at an early stage regarding technology transfer capabilities for the purpose of organizing production in Thailand Lan.

According to sources, Thailand wants to buy another 60 armored personnel carriers BTR-3E1 carrying troops. In particular, Ukraine will hand over the first two, the rest will be assembled in Thailand. It is expected that Thailand's defense ministry will consider the government co-production of armored vehicles BTR- 3E1 enhanced to increase the national defense industry. Developers Ukraine sent some technology experts, operators and maintenance to Thailand to support and training for Thai workers. 

In addition to providing BTR-3E1, in 2011, Thailand has signed contracts worth $ 241 million to buy 49 tanks from Ukraine manufacturing Oplot. In the Ukraine are offered to the modernization of helicopters and machine DOD flights Thailand as well as the provision of spare parts. Not only that, Ukraine also offers to provide Thailand BTR-4 armored vehicles, portable missile systems developed by SKIF Ukraine - Belarus and Gyurza patrol boats.
